As much as I hate to admit it, summer is officially over here on Bainbridge Island. The mornings and cold and foggy, it is getting darker much earlier, and my flowers are starting to shrivel in the cold. And Miranda is back in school, here she is on her first day of 8th grade! Wow, I can't believe she will be in high school next year.
Football season (which next to hockey season is Filipe's favorite time of year) has also officially begun. Filipe got season tickets this year - Mir went with him to the first game - they had a great time, Seahawks fans are crazy loud!
We had a great summer up here, I grew quite a few tomatoes and squash in containers outback, we also had some really pretty flowers bloom this year.
Our favorites were the blue hydrangeas
and the pink dahlias, they were so big and pretty, our house had fresh flowers in it all the time. It was lovely.
The picture doesn't show how huge this flower is, so I made Mir cover it with her hand to show the size, it was so big!
We also found a great variety of apple tree that grows straight up and not out. They can be kept in containers and can grow up to 10 ft high, this was our first year having them and got about 6 apples off each one - they were delicious!
