This weekend we celebrated our Christmas since Mir is leaving on Friday to go down to Utah for 2 weeks. On Saturday we went to Winslow, it is our little downtown area here on the island and it is really cute during Christmas, every large tree is decorated and all of the stores are decked out with lights and garland. It was a little cold, but we had a great time walking around and getting some last minute gifts.
On Sunday Mir and I made a ton of Christmas candy. Then we decided to go to a waterfront park to watch the Annual Boat Parade, we wanted to go last year, but Mir's leg was still in a cast so this was our first year going. I wish I could say it was awesome and here are some great pictures, but this is all you get:
IT WAS SO COLD!!! It snowed about 2 inches here on Saturday night (usually it snows but doesn't stick) and since it was about 25 degrees there was a sign saying that all of the fesivities had been called off, there would still be some boats passing by but no hot chocolate, candles or singing. We had a hard time trying to decide whether to stay there to see the boats or head home, eat dinner and get warm. Well, we decided to compromise and went to our favorite fish n' chips place to eat (it is on the water) and watch the boats from inside. Mir did brave the cold and stepped onto the deck to take this picture. Hopefully, next year it won't be so cold and snowy.
We had a great weekend, but I am always a little sad when it is over. Mir will have a great time in Utah and Christmas is far from over for her and Filipe and I are looking forward to a great time with the Ratchfords. Merry Christmas!!
